FEC Complaint Filed Over Facebook Censorship of Transgender Sports Ad. American Principles Project and its affiliated political action committee filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission against Facebook, alleging that Facebook’s censorship of their ad focusing on Sen. South Dakota House Passes Ban on Transgender Surgery for Minors. HB 1057 would make it a Class 1 misdemeanor for doctors to dispense puberty-blocking drugs to those under the age of 16 for the purpose of changing or affirming the perception of their sex, and lists a number of surgical procedures including castration, vasectomy, and hysterectomy that doctors would not be allowed to perform on minors. 5th Circuit Court Denies Transgender Prisoner’s Request to Use Female Pronouns, Change Court Records. A U.S. federal appeals court has refused to refer to a biological male transgender inmate by female pronouns and rejected a request to change court records to reflect his new female name. UK Government Advises Schools That Transgender Boys Need Access to Free Period Products. The government rolled out a scheme to provide tampons, sanitary pads and other menstrual products to “learners who do not identify as female but still have periods, for instance, transgender boys and non-binary learners.” Read more here.


Canadian Appeals Court Rules Father Can’t Stop Teen Daughter From Taking Male Hormones. The highest court in British Columbia, Canada ruled that a father could not prevent doctors from giving his 15-year-old daughter testosterone injections to “affirm” her transgender male identity. Alabama Law Seeks to Block Transgender Athletes from Competing Against Girls. Rep. Chris Pringle is sponsoring the “Gender is Real Legislative (GIRL) Act” meant to restrict school sports to birth gender so that girls may compete against each other and not have to compete against male students who may have an unfair advantage. Colorado Allows Transgender Residents ‘New’ Birth Certificate, No Surgery Required. According to a new state law, Colorado residents who claim to be transgender or “non-binary” can now obtain a “new” birth certificate with a name and gender change, without any proof of sex-change surgery. Transgender Men Claim Lack of Gender-Neutral Menstruation Products Causes ‘Pain,’ Makes Them ‘Unsafe.’ Female-to-male transgender individuals who still menstruate are now saying that feminine hygiene products, which are typically marketed at biological women, should be gender-neutral (and free) so that they are not further oppressed, harmed, or triggered by gender-specific packaging and the cost of period products during their “time of the month.” Read more here.


Brazil Lowers Age for Gender “Reassignment” Surgery. Brazil’s independent medical regulator announced new rules for treating transgender patients on Thursday, including lowering the age when transgender people can have gender “reassignment” surgery from 21 to 18 years old. UK Court Tackles Gender Transition for Children. A psychiatric nurse who worked at Britain’s only state-funded gender identity clinic filed a case at the High Court in London against the NHS gender identity development service (GIDS) and the state National Health Service that funds it. Study Finds Transgender Patients Experience Significantly Higher Rate of Psychiatric Disorders than Non-Transgenders. The study published in the journal Transgender Health found that 58 percent of transgender patients in the study had at least one psychiatric diagnosis including depression and anxiety, compared with 13.6 percent in the control patient population. Pediatric Endocrine Society Falsely Claims Puberty Blockers Are “Reversible.” The Pediatric Endocrine Society has released a new statement that claims puberty blockers are a part of “gender-affirming care” for children with gender dysphoria and are a “reversible treatment that decreases the distress of having the ‘wrong’ puberty.” More physicians and analysts of the transgender movement, however, are publicly asserting the Society’s claim that puberty blockers or suppressors are a “reversible treatment” is blatantly false. Study of Adolescents with Gender Dysphoria Found Extended Counseling Resolved or Diminished Confusion. The study published in the journal Clinical Child Psychology and Psychiatry found that of the 12 gender-confused adolescents who intended to “transition” through medical interventions, after counseling, seven of them no longer felt that their gender identity was incongruent with their biological sex and the rest no longer desired medical interventions. BC Human Rights Tribunal Rules in Favor of Female Estheticians Who Refused to Wax Transgender Male Genitalia. The decision noted that “human rights legislation does not require a service provider to wax a type of genitals they are not trained for and have not consented to wax.” The decision further found that the complainant Jessica Yaniv, a biological male who identifies as a female, “engaged in improper conduct,” “filed complaints for improper purposes,” and concluded Yaniv’s testimony was “disingenuous and self-serving.” Read more here.

Federal Judge Overturns Wisconsin Medicaid Provision Barring Transgender Surgery. U.S. District Judge William Conley ruled in favor of four transgender Wisconsin residents whose lawsuit challenged a provision under the state Department of Health Services that excluded coverage of “transsexual surgery” for Medicaid recipients. Royal College of General Practitioners Issues Grave Warning About Interventions for Gender-Confused Children. In a position statement, the Royal College said there is a lack of robust evidence about the long-term effects of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones. Ohio School Punishes Student for Not Calling Gender-Confused Boy by Preferred Pronouns. A sixth-grade student was punished in an Ohio school district for using the male pronoun “he” in reference to a gender-confused biological male student and for respectfully stating his opinion that “he is a boy, not a girl.” The assistant principal removed him from PE class for the day as part of his punishment. California Middle School Teacher Draws Scrutiny for Giving Students Gender Identity Cards. The teacher gave students a “Gender Unicorn” sheet that explained gender identity and sexual attraction. Effort to Roll Back Transgender Rights Fails in Uruguay. UN May Open the Door to a Gender Extravaganza. The International Law Commission has agreed to abandon the traditional definition of gender enshrined in the 1998 Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court in a draft treaty on crimes against humanity. Study Finds Male-to-Female Transgenders on Hormones at Greater Risk for Breast Cancer. The Dutch study found that biological men who take female hormones have a nearly 50-fold increase in breast cancer risk compared with men. USA Powerlifting Responds to the Transgender Athlete Dispute on Its Website. The weightlifting organization is defending itself against critics who say the federation’s policy of barring biological men from women’s competitions is discriminatory. World Health Organization to Change Transgender Classification. The term the World Health Organization uses to describe transgender people in the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD-11), “gender incongruence,” is being moved from the mental disorders chapter to the sexual health chapter. UK Priest Resigned Post Over Children’s Gender Issues at School. A long-serving vicar and school-governor has resigned his post over what he said were children being “sacrificed on the altar of trans ideology” after an eight-year-old student at his school “transitioned” from a boy to a girl. Trump Administration Proposes Rollback of Transgender Protections.   The proposed regulation would replace a 2016 rule from the Obama administration that defined discrimination “on the basis of sex” to include gender identity. Federal Judge Blocks Mississippi Abortion Law. Judge Carlton Reeves blocked enforcement of a new Mississippi law that bans abortion after a fetal heartbeat can be detected. The judge said, “By banning abortions after the detection of a fetal heartbeat, the law prevents a woman’s free choice, which is central to personal dignity and autonomy.” Read more here.


Poll Shows Support for Same-Sex Marriage in U.S. More than Doubles in 23 Years. The Gallup Poll found that the percentage of Americans who think same-sex marriage should be recognized by the law as valid has more than doubled from 27 percent in 1996 to 63 percent in 2019.  Read more here.


Alabama Lawmakers Pass Bill to Get Around Same-Sex Marriage Licenses. The House of Representatives voted 67-26 to advance a bill that would create marriage certificates that don’t have to be signed by a judge. The International Association of Athletics Federations ruled that Caster Semenya has testosterone levels that are too high to compete in women’s 800-meter races. Mexico’s Supreme Court Grants New Birth Certificate to Transgender Citizen. The court asked the state of Jalisco to grant the new birth certificate after the individual “changed” their sex and name. Employees Quit UK Transgender Clinic over Kids’ Experimental Gender Treatments. Five employees of Britain’s National Health Service (NHS) have quit a controversial NHS transgender-therapy clinic because they feel that children are being misdiagnosed as transgender and treated with harmful and irreversible hormone treatments. U.S. Transgender Military Ban Now in Effect. Troops in all branches of the U.S. military must identify as their birth sex, even if they are transgender. The change comes nearly two years after President Trump tweeted that he wanted a transgender ban. Read more here.


U.S. Naval Academy to Ban Transgender Students Beginning in 2020. The move follows a Pentagon policy that recently went into effect that bans transgender troops from serving openly and denies medical care for “gender transition” interventions. Read more here.

Lesbian Activist Removed From Commission for “Misgendering” Convicted Rapist. Julia Beck, former member of an LGBTQ Commission in Baltimore, Maryland, was found guilty of “violence” for using male pronouns when referring to a male rapist who identifies as a female. German Court Rules Insurer Must Pay for Transgender Beard Removal. The court found the plaintiff, a biological male, experienced emotional difficulties with his heavy beard growth.
