Report Shows Planned Parenthood and Other Abortion Providers Received $1.5 Billion Taxpayer Dollars. In response to a request by members of Congress, a report from the nonpartisan Government Accountability Office revealed that Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Marie Stopes International, and International Planned Parenthood Federation spent $410 million in federal funding between 2013 and 2015. The Center for Medical Progress has unveiled another video exposing Planned Parenthood’s relationship with StemExpress, a contractor that procures and sells aborted fetal body parts for research. Attorneys General in 20 states filed a “friend of the court” brief requesting the undercover videos exposing Planned Parenthood’s criminal activity be made available to them so they are privy to violations of law within their jurisdictions. Planned Parenthood Files Lawsuit Against Indiana Law Banning Abortion of Down Syndrome Babies. The law was signed by Indiana Governor Mike Pence and prohibits abortion in the early stages of a pregnancy based on genetic abnormalities. Planned Parenthood asked for an injunction on the law, which was filed by the American Civil Liberties Union on behalf of Planned Parenthood’s Indiana chapter. Planned Parenthood Announces On-Site Partnership With Select Public School Systems. Planned Parenthood will have representatives on 57 campuses in California, Illinois and Maryland 2-3 days each week. The group says they hope to expand into several additional states by late this year. While the Planned Parenthood representatives will not be able to administer medication or provide services, all students within each school will be able to schedule confidential consultations with the school’s representative and are guaranteed confidentiality and anonymity. Nebraska Auditor Finds Planned Parenthood Illegally Used Federal Funds for Abortions. According to a report by Nebraska State Auditor Charlie Janssen, Planned Parenthood of the Heartland misused at least $3,500 in public money for physician fees, staff salaries and pathology work related to placental and fetal tissue. Virginia Governor Vetoes Bill Blocking Funding for Planned Parenthood. Governor Terry McAuliffe vetoed the bill that would have blocked future state funding for Planned Parenthood clinics. The Governor said the bill would have decimated the state’s abortion providers. International Planned Parenthood Federation Performed Nearly 3.8 Million Abortion-Related Services in 2014. According to its Annual Performance Report, nearly one in two services was provided to an individual under the age of 25. Planned Parenthood Says Requiring a License Prior to Performing an Abortion is ‘Absurd.’ Planned Parenthood has filed a lawsuit against Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin calling the requirement that one of its offices wait until it has a license to perform abortions is “absurd” and “authoritarian.” Gov. Bevin sued Planned Parenthood last month, saying its Louisville office ran “an unlicensed abortion facility” without necessary ambulance transfer agreements and that it performed 23 illegal abortions.
